Beth grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, moved to western Pennsylvania, and lived briefly in Sioux City, Iowa. She began teaching English an Art at the secondary level and later joined the faculty at Allegheny College. There she directed the expository writing program, taught environmental literature, and conducted multidisciplinary faculty development programs in writing to learn.
Additionally at college level, she served as an academic advisor for at-risk students, a composition instructor of English as a second language for international students, a mentor for migrant students brought to campus for summer programs, and a member of the Sexual Harassment Advisory Council.
Since coming to Hilton Head about 20 years ago, Beth has been working to assemble the weirdest resume in America. Among other things, she has served on the Board of the Hilton Head Art League and managed their gallery and their studio workshop program; served in clubhouse management positions at two local country clubs; planned events and weddings; and worked at a veterinary hospital.
In addition to her son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old granddaughter, she regards UUCL as one of the most precious gifts in her life. She will be eternally grateful to Linda Klingman for the invitation to join this astounding community.
