The courage, challenges and difficulty to Come Out in mid-life with Mary Lenney

My talk will be about coming out as a Lesbian at age 42 after a 22-year marriage to a man. Becoming sober and joining AA gave me the opportunity to explore my sexuality. I look forward to sharing my story with you.

I grew up in Connecticut with extended visits to Cape Cod throughout my childhood. I was the oldest of four children and raised in strict Catholic household. I got married at 18, had two son and worked as a waitress. After 16 years of drinking I discovered I was an alcoholic. Through AA I became sober which led to my divorce and discovering I was a lesbian. I was also able to return to school and trained as a Clinical Social Worker. I followed this path until I retired in 2011.
