In the Buddhist tradition, spiritual growth includes the goal of enlightenment, of waking up and becoming more aware of the world around us and our interior world. But if you are white, rarely does self-awareness involve becoming more conscious of your whiteness. On this Martin Luther King Day Sunday, we will seek to become more aware of the privileges of being white.
